FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE Sph3r3 asked to deliver Open Source Security Tools Presentation at NetSec 2005. Chicago, Illinois -- March 4, 2005 -- Sph3r3 continues to deliver open source solutions to organizations in parallel with commercial applications. Matthew Luallen, the President of Sph3r3 stated, "Opensource security tools deliver at the same level or in some cases better performance and capabilities then commercially available applications. Sph3r3 delivers solutions employing a variety of applications, commercial and opensource - it just seems however that the openly available toolsets work so well that they need to at least be evaluated a potential solution by every organization. The common downfall by an organization is that they seem to want support contracts; however, we maintain that opensource security tools have international support and may actually require less support then commercially available options." Sph3r3 will be delivering a presentation regarding the tools of choice by their solutions consultants at the upcoming NetSec 2005 conference located in Scottsdale, AZ. Cracking and Securing with Open Source Tools This presentation will discuss a variety of available toolsets for successful penetration of a system, and security in small to large enterprise environments. The open source community continues to provide an amazing breadth of utilities that generally provide the same level, or in some cases substantial, improvements over their commercial counterparts. It is not to say that commercial products do not have their place; however, in some occassions a viable choice may be open source. This session will cover the specifics and how they may be implemented on a number of choices, including but not limited to SNARE, SNORT, SmokePING, CACTI, Nagios, IPERF, Netflow and several others.
